By 2016 the USS Gerald Ford, first of the new Ford-class U.S. aircraft carriers will be launched. These carriers are the most expensive ships ever built with a cost of approximately $14 billion each. (http://www.businessinsider.com/uss-gerald-r-ford-construction-of-the-most-expensive-ship-ever-2013-7?op=1) Instead we could choose for that $14 billion 616 million plus Child Immunizations or 49 billion meals for starving people (http://www.stwr.org/special-features/cost-of-war-calculator.html) According to UN Millennium Development Goals (http://www.un.org/millenniumgoals/) only a fraction of that $14 billion is needed to fund these needs. Don’t forget the $2 trillion spent annually by the world’s militaries.
