Our 2017 Fundraising Drive is underway!

Dear supporters,

The 2020 AYWW Mission has always had the unique values of a deadline, an expiration date and a quantified goal. As many of you also know, our Mission is now focused precisely upon securing a United Nations Truce for the year 2020. Actually, an eleven-month extension of the anticipated UN Olympic Truce for the 2020 Summer Tokyo Games. For nearly twenty years, the UN has passed an Olympic Truce every two years for the Olympic Games.

Last month a 2020 AYWW delegation traveled to the 16th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates in Bogota, Colombia. 2020 AYWW had been invited to provide a workshop for the Summit. An Honor indeed! 2020 AYWW has now been invited back for next year’s World Summit. At this year’s Summit we were able to meet with Tawakkol Karman (2011 Peace Laureate), Leymah Gbowee (2011 Peace Laureate) and Kailash Sathyarthi (2014 Peace Laureate). Each has expressed an interest in supporting 2020 AYWW. We are now in correspondence and have requested that they lobby to help build the coalition needed in the UN to secure the 2020 global UN truce.

We are now contacting the UN Ambassadors of the top twenty nations listed on the Global Peace Index along with those representing the top twenty nations on the Global Human Development Index. We are also hoping to be able to announce celebrity endorsements this spring. And as many of you will recall, our 2020 AYWW Delegation to the UN this past fall was selected as one of three organizations to address the entire assembly for the UN International Day of Peace Celebrations in New York. 2017 is now our year to secure our first nations of support in the UN for the 2020 UN global truce.
